					<description>i've always heard that among northern church of Christ there was a trend toward a very anabaptist notion of limited-to-none state involvement (pascifism, no voting, etc.) because the kingdom is &quot;not of this world&quot; and so forth.  but i've never chased that down in research though.</description>

Thanks for your thoughts.  Maybe I will just stick to writing here.

Guy, thank you for the suggestion...that is a great topic and I'll take a swing at it soon... one of the great things about that one is that there were two major points of view, and in the mainline Churches one point of view won the day. 

I actually got into an argument with my father over Thanksgiving over this very issue, and that Sunday I taught a class where we ended up talking about war, and so of course those things are closely related.
