					<description>Thanks for the book suggestions.  I'm definatly interested in reading about Christianity and how it has been effected by politics.  

I'm also curious about what happened to the puritans.  I know that not all the Congregational churches merged into the UCC.  Guess I'll have to check out the rest of the story.

You are right, it is totally amazing what became of the Puritans. I'm in the middle of reading &lt;a&gt;America's God&lt;/a&gt;, written by Mark Noll.  Though he doesn't focus on the Restoration Movement, he writes about how republicanism heavily influenced the way Christians in America speak about and live the faith.  It's a fascinating read if you get the opportunity.
